Police: Man Broke into Home to Steal Food

Jackson police believe a man arrested outside a home that had just been broken into, Wednesday morning, was stealing food.
Phillip Ewing, 43, of Jackson, appeared in Jackson City Court Wednesday and was charged with aggravated burglary and theft under $500. He is currently jailed in lieu of $30,000.
Investigators say around 2 a.m., officers responded to an alarm call at a home in the 200-block of Walker Avenue. The officers spotted broken glass and evidence that led them to believe the suspect was still in the area. With the help of a K9, Ewing was found hiding in bushes behind the house.
Investigators are trying to determine if Ewing is responsible for other previous burglaries at the same address. In each of the cases it appears only food was taken.
