Police: Son Threatens Workers Over Father's Theft Charge

Heather Mathis

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn.- Humboldt Police said they arrested a West Tennessee man accused of threatening construction workers because he was angry over his father's arrest.

Jacob Pierson, 25, was arrested Tuesday. Construction workers told officers Pierson was upset over his father, Patrick Pierson, being arrested and charged with stealing a coke machine and dough riser from a Pizza Hut under construction.

"I went up there to confront him," said Pierson. "Not in a threatening manor but to just show him a picture of my father. My dad tried to commit suicide. He basically did it because the police were called on him, and he didn't want to go back to jail."

Construction workers told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that they informed Pierson they had nothing to do with his father's arrest. They claimed he then showed them a handgun, and said he would be back to hurt them.

Pierson claimed he never had a gun, "There is no way that I would wish harm on somebody, or try to hurt somebody over a piece of scrap metal."

Police said a court date for Jacob Pierson has not been set.
