Post Office in Bradford Facing Possible Service Reduction

BRADFORD, Tenn.- Dozens of people in Bradford crowded into the post office, Thursday evening in an effort to save the services and hours provided by the location.

Residents throughout the town were surveyed last month, asking how often they use postal services. As part of a cost cutting effort, the federal agency is considering reducing the hours the current location operates during the week due to its current workload.

Many fear cutting hours could be just the beginning to eventually closing their local post office.

"The post office is an intrical part of our society," said Pam Dowland, who lives in Bradford. "Around here it's the first place you go to when you come to town, when you move here and it's the last place that somebody checks when you go."

Postal leaders said they will make their decision in about a week and a half.
