JACKSON, Tenn.-Employees at a north Jackson hospital learn proper ways to train and lift patients, safely.

The clinical staff at Regional Hospital learned lifting techniques which will help with heavy patients and reduce injuries to employees.

Those who work in the medical professions said it is an issue they deal with on a daily basis and preventing injury is important, both for the patient and health care providers.

Employees worked with a well-known power zone trainer to improve their technique.

"It's more important than ever before that nurses understand that because of what it is they do. They have to do things differently," said
Mike Flynt, power zone teacher.

Medical experts said there is a growing risk for injury to health care workers as Americans continue the trend of being overweight.
