Room At the Inn Prepares for Below Freezing Temps
DOWNTOWN JACKSON -- With temperatures foretasted in the single digits beginning Sunday, Area Relief Ministries is preparing their Room in the Inn Emergency Shelter Program so no one is left on the street.
Room in the Inn is the only emergency shelter program for single men in the city, and is a partnership between Area Relief Ministries and local churches. The program is in its 7th season.
“This is the whole reason Room in the Inn was started," Lisa Peoples, ARM executive director said. “ Temperatures like we have had this winter are not only uncomfortable but they are dangerous. We don’t want anyone to have to be out in these elements and encourage those who are in need of shelter to please take advantage of the program.”
Room in the Inn check-in happens every evening at 4:00 pm at ARM offices, located at 108 S Church Street.
