HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. - Katherine Juanita Lynn Smith was picked up Wednesday on an arrest warrant for criminal sexual conduct with a minor in 2007.

Members of the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department in South Carolina contacted the Henderson County Sheriff's Office to report information they obtained indicating Smith may be in Lexington.

"To know that my great nephew is just right over there, it's appalling to know somebody is that close," said neighbor Linda Jowers.

According to the arrest affidavit, Smith is accused of sexual battery involving a child under the age of 11. The alleged acts were conducted between 2007 and 2009 in Fairfield County, South Carolina.

"It's very shocking. I'm still in shock myself, and I can't believe something like that was so close," said Tim Miller.

Smith is currently being held in Henderson County Jail without bond. Officials said arrangements have been made for Smith to be extradited back to Fairfield County, South Carolina.
