STAR Center Offers Free Special Needs Workshop For Parents

The STAR Center offered free workshops to parents of children with disabilities Saturday afternoon. The center said its purpose is to educate parents about their rights when putting their children in special education.
STEP or Support and Training for Exceptional Parents is a federally funded program designed specifically to provide support and training for parents of children with disabilities. Saturday, organizers informed parents in the Jackson about the IDEA or the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Organizers like Jacqueline Roe Buck Sakho said they are happy to help, " I think that parents are feeling more comfortable understanding that they have options."
