School Board Discusses Pinson School Problems

JACKSON, Tenn. -The Jackson-Madison County School Board heard recommendations from Superintendent Buddy White about what the district should do with the Old Pinson School building.

Last month, part of the school's roof collapsed after a series of storms. The facility is currently leased by the Pinson Ruritan Club and used by other community groups.

Superintendent White recommended selling the building to the Ruritans for a dollar or selling it to a real estate company. Either way his belief is that the school district does not need to own it any longer and chairman David Clifft agrees.

"The school system just doesn't need to hang on to it," said School Board Chairman David Clifft. "It has now become a liability. the school system has no use for the building nor has it for several years."

The school board will vote on the proposal as their Thursday meeting, which begins at 6 p.m.
