JACKSON, Tenn. - The sound of storm sirens filled the air, Wednesday as Severe Weather Awareness Week continued in Tennessee.

As part of the week, tornadoes are covered and highlighted in the plan provided by TEMA. Students across the state participated in a tornado drill, Wednesday morning.

The drill requireed students to line up as soon as they heard the bell and go outside their classroom and duck near a sturdy wall. Other classrooms hid underneath a sturdy table.

Joy Rast, bookkeeper of Arlington Elementary School, said the drill was a success. "We need to teach them here so they are prepared if it does because after the ones we've had in the past we've really tried to prepare them because it's a realistic thing now."
