JACKSON, Tenn. - West Tennessee has had its fair share of tornadoes and severe weather, and because of that, officials said it is important to be prepared.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service are sponsoring Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week, which starts Sunday and ends Friday.

On Sunday, the NWS is focusing on the important role of Sky Warn Spotters.

Several classes are being offered next month - two of them right here in West Tennessee.

One of them is even being put on by WBBJ's very own meteorologist, Eddie Holmes.
