Sex Offender Returns to Jail, Accused of Attending Event with Children

JACKSON, Tenn.- A registered sex offender is in trouble again, charged with violating the sex offender registry law.
Investigators said he attended a Juneteenth celebration last Saturday at Centennial Park in east Jackson.
State records show James Howard Theus, III was convicted of facilitating rape of a child in 2001. That means he is not allowed within 1,000 feet of a playground or park without a legitimate reason.
Theus turned himself in, Tuesday morning and was released on his own recognizance.
