Shiver On The River Raises Money For Charity

BUCHANAN, Tenn-Although it is cold outside, the temperature did not stop dozens of West Tennesseans from taking a dip in the river to raise money for the Real Hop Youth Center's annual fundraiser.

Directors at Real Hope Youth Center in Paris, Tennessee held their fourth annual "Shiver on the River" fundraiser. Participants who donated $25 were able to take a dip in the river at Paris Landing State Park. They also received free t-shirts and meals.

"Literally, it's people caring and that's why we do this crazy stuff we do," said Steve Gallimore, Youth Center President for Real Hope.

Supporters said raising money for Real Hope is reason enough to tackle the cold river. More than 50 people took a dip while dozens of others looked-on in support.

"There are a lot of people excited to jump in and they're ready to go," said Susan Jones, a Real Hope supporter.
