Benton County Fisherman Found with Gunshot Wound

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn.-The Benton County Sheriff''s Department told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the body of a man found Sunday, who went missing was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

The body of found in Trigg County, Kentucky has been positively identified as 72-year-old Dan Couger.

Couger was reported missing after he went fishing Friday afternoon and did not return home. Investigators found his car, with wallet and credit cards inside and undisturbed, near Sulphur Creek in Benton County.

Investigators say they collected bullets from Couger's home and are being tested to determine a possible match. Investigators say they're using sonar to search for evidence under water and hope the technology will help them recover the gun.

Couger's case still remains under investigation. The Benton County Sheriff's Department are not sure if this case is a murder or suicide. If you have any information, call the Benton County Sheriff's Department at (731) 584-4632.
