Sordid Tale Leads to Arrest of Crockett Co. Teacher & Coach

Alamo, Tenn - A Crockett County teacher and assistant football coach is jailed after allegedly having sex with a student.

Perry Reeves, 29, is charged with two counts of aggravated statutory rape, two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Court documents said Reeves had sex with a student.

According to officials, an upset boyfriend called 911 and said he was upset that his girlfriend was cheating on him.. Deputies arrived near the girl's home and said they found the boy smashing the windows of the Reeves' truck. The juvenile was arrested and is being charged with that crime.

A short time later deputies said they knocked on the door of the teen girl. Reeves was reportedly inside at the time. However, before deputies could enter the home, he allegedly ran out the back door and through a cornfield.

Authorities report they found Reeves on a nearby road. When they asked what he was doing there, he claimed he was out for a jog.

According to the Crockett County Director of Schools, Reeves taught history at Crockett County High School and was the defensive coordinator and assistant coach for the football team. He just completed his first year of teaching in Crockett County.

Reeves has been suspended without pay from his job with the school system. Director of Schools Robert Mullins, Jr. said off-camera that the arrest of Reeves is devastating for a lot of people.

Bail for Reeves has been set at $25,000
