Southwest TN EMC Tower Brought Down After Storm

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. - The communications tower for Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Cooperative was damaged during the storm that hit Brownsville, Thursday afternoon.

The 300-foot tower was demolished during a "controlled take-down." The damaged caused some communication problems for utility workers who were working to restore power to areas in Haywood and Tipton Counties. Crews had to drive mile-by-mile to work to repair outages.

Southwest crews continued to work through the night in Haywood County and are continuing their repairs as the day continues. They believe only a handful of customers remain without power as of this morning.
