Strawberry Festival Kicks off in Humboldt

What is perhaps the most anticipated festival in all of West Tennessee is now officially underway.

Not even Monday's wet weather could stop the kick-off of the 75th annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival in Humboldt..

The rain forced the opening festivities to be moved inside to the Humboldt High School gymnasium, but the program went off without a hitch. Hundreds were in attendance.

The Bethel University Renaissance Choir provided the entertainment.

It's a mini reunion, many families come back and get together, people who are out of town are coming back this week meeting with little mini reunions all week long," said Randy Terry, President of the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival.

The fireworks display scheduled Monday night was postponed due to rain earlier Monday and has been rescheduled for Wednesday night.
