Suspects in Dollar General Robbery Charged
JACKSON, Tenn. – Four people are jailed and charged in the Sunday night armed robbery of a Dollar General in West Jackson.
Leveris Keller, 20, of Jackson, Cassandra Haynes, 36, of Jackson, and Billy Rapier, 18, of Brownsville, and a juvenile are charged with aggravated robbery.
Police believe the four robbed the Dollar General just after 7:00 p.m. Sunday night. After leaving the store, a witness reported seeing the group flee the scene in a mini-van. Madison County Sheriff’s deputies found the suspect vehicle and chased it to Interstate 40. The van crashed after it left the interstate at exit 68.
Haynes is facing an additional charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Investigators said she allowed her 15-year-old son to participate in the robbery. Police notified the Department of Children's Services about the incident.
Keller is also charged with tampering with evidence for allegedly throwing the mask used in the robbery out the window of a vehicle. Police investigators reported recovering the clown mask that was allegedly worn in the robbery near the business, Monday. Additional charges are expected to be filed against him in connection with the chase.
Rapier is additionally facing a charge of evading arrest for running from the scene of the crash.
The three adults are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. in Jackson City Court, and the youth will have a detention hearing before the Madison County Juvenile Court Judge.
