Sweeper Truck Catches Fire on Bypass

NORTH JACKSON -- A truck caught fire along the highway 45 bypass, which caused quite a scare for motorists, Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames that shot from the sweeper truck, which started just before 3 p.m.

The driver told WBBJ that he was headed south on the bypass when he noticed flames coming from the back of the truck. He was able to get out safely.

No one else was with him and the cause remains under investigation.
