Teacher Charged With Statutory Rape
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. - Local residents said they are not surprised to hear of a local teacher having a relationship with a student.
"I think it's ridiculous it happened a couple of years ago here also," said Keith Haynes of Brownsville.
According to Brownsville Police, Abby Hooper was arrested Wednesday charged with aggravated statutory rape after the Haywood County School Board requested police to investigate.
Associate Superintendent Art Garrett released a statement stating Hooper has been suspended without pay pending the investigation.
"This isn't just here its everybody its just getting ridiculous no morals none." said Haynes.
