Teens Indicted for First Degree Murder

JACKSON, Tenn.- A north Jackson murder last summer, linked by court officials to gang violence was presented to the grand jury, Monday, who handed down first degree murder charges for the two teens jailed in connection with the drive-by shooting.
Emanuel Beard, and Jateryance Smith, who were both 17 at the time of the arrests, were indicted on charges of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and aggravated murder and aggravated assault. Both were charged as adults.
On August 11, Smith was accused of driving, as Beard and another man fired outside an apartment off Brianfield Cove. Jarvis Vinson, 23, was shot and killed, however another man with him survived.
Both Beard and Smith remain jailed without bond. The search for the third suspect continued.
