Thanksgiving Meal Served in East Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. - Dozens of West Tennesseans were served a hot Thanksgiving Day meal thanks to donations by individuals and businesses throughout Jackson.
Jackson City Councilman Johnny Dodd hosted his annual Thanksgiving Luncheon at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Thursday.
During the three-hours of feasting, individuals and families from throughout the area came together to enjoy the food and company. In some cases, it was also an opportunity to give back. "I just want everybody to know that the community is here for them," said Cynthia Williams, who volunteered as a server during the meal. "Don't feel that nobody cares for you because the community does care."
The luncheon was open to anyone but focused on serving the elderly and disadvantaged. It was held in honor of those who have lost loved ones this year.
Rides were provided for those unable to drive themselves to the church. In other cases, meals were delivered to those unable to get out of their homes.
