A 'cousin' to thousands of West Tennesseans celebrated a very special milestone.

'Cousin Tuny', whose real name is Doris Freeman celebrated her 87th birthday, Tuesday at the Therapy and Learning Center, previously known as the Cerebral Palsy Center, a place very dear to her.

She was also treated to a version of her own 'Cousin Tuny's' Birthday Song, which she sang to countless children on her television show that ran on WBBJ-TV, Channel 7.

"I have watched a child take a step that would not have walked and let me tell you that, if that don't melt you down, you know, if you just help one it's worth a lifetime of effort,"said Doris 'Cousin Tuny' Freeman, celebrating her 87th birthday. "I have four great-grandchildren, and one on the way, so, I'm just so blessed. I mean, my cup runneth over and I'm drinking from my saucer, really."

In lieu of gifts, 'Tuny' is asking her friends and cousins to contribute to the Doris 'Cousin Tuny' Freeman Endowment for Special Needs Needs Children at the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation.
