Tigrett Students Debate as They Learn about the Election Process

JACKSON, Tenn.- Students at an area middle school learn about the election process by taking part in a Town Hall style debate.

200 students at Tigrett Middle School debated, Monday about the issues, bringing out the pros and cons of those running for president, vice president and the senate.

In preparation for the debate, the middle schoolers studied elections to prepare for Monday's active civics lesson.

"I think the students have done an amazing job. They have been excited about it. They have just participated in everything," said Jozelda Porter, an 8th grade History teacher.

Teachers said the goal of the debate was to teach students the responsibility of voting.
