Tipton Co. Grand Jury Clears Deputy in McRaven Shooting

TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn.- A Tipton County grand jury has determined a deputy who shot and killed a man who refused to drop his gun back in July was justified.

Charles McRaven, 31, was shot three times by Deputy Ryan Magee. Tests showed McRaven had a blood alcohol level of .22 at the time of his death. Both marijuana and Xanax were also found in his system. according to investigators.

Deputy Magee and another deputy were escorting McRaven's girlfriend back to the home so she could retrieve some of her belongings at the time of the shooting.

According to the district attorney, the entire encounter was captured on the deputy's dash cam.
