MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.- Students and school leaders took visitors of West Middle School on a walk through black history, Thursday.

Those attending the living history museum at the school saw students portraying African American achievers.

Some of those achievers that visitors met along the way included First Lady Michelle Obama, Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

Organizers said the museum was an affective way to learn about those who have meant so much to the United States.

"Without those who were before me, I wouldn't be able to be in this school, particularly with this variety of children," said Maya Goldon, a program participant.

Students said they enjoy learning history outside of a structured classroom.
