BROWNSVILLE, Tenn- Tourism in Haywood County is increasing. As a result, residents and businesses are reaping the benefits.

According to the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, Haywood County generated more than $13 million in tourist spending. Because tourists are spending in the county, residents of Haywood are saving close to $200 in state and local taxes.

Officials at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center said they are expecting more growth.

"As long as we are promoting it and inviting people to come here and visit, we reap the economic benefits of their visits," said Sonia Outlaw-Clark, Executive Director at the Delta Heritage Center.

In addition to taxpayer savings, 80 jobs were created in 2011 as a result of tourism.
