Trio Arrested After Police Chase Through Multiple Counties
MEDINA, Tenn. -- According to police, three suspects engaged in a police chase through Gibson, Tipton, Haywood and Madison counties on Saturday night.
The chase began in Medina after an officer attempted to stop a Geo Metro that James Robert Cox, 32, was driving after the officer realized that Cox was driving on a suspended license.
The Geo then swerved in an attempt to strike the Medina squad car and turned onto the US 45 Bypass. At this point, the Geo struck the rear of the same squad car.
The suspect attempted several times to pass the squad car on the left. The suspect finally passed the squad car, and his vehicle struck the left side of a Mason squad car.
Officials then say that one of the passengers of the car, either Chastity Case, 21, or Margaret Jones, 24 threw a bag out of the passenger side window which was later identified as meth.
Cox then lost control of the vehicle in Mason, Tenn. and crossed back to the north side of the roadway and entered a cornfield. At this point, the Geo dropped into a 8-10 foot ditch, causing heavy damage to vehicle and injuries to themselves. This accident ended the chase.
Case and Jones are both charged with tampering with evidence.
Cox is charged with tampering with evidence, possession of a schedule II drug, reckless endangerment, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, driving on a suspended license.
All three of the passengers in the car were transported to The Med in Memphis.
