JACKSON, Tenn.- Failed cables are believed to be the reason for hundreds in Jackson losing power, which meant no air conditioning, Tuesday afternoon.

Jackson Energy Authority officials told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the underground cables are suspected of going bad, which tripped a breaker, affecting many in downtown Jackson and leaving traffic lights along north royal street dark.

The outage, according to JEA, affected 416 customers and lasted 45minutes.
