Two Dead in Early Morning Fire
UNION CITY, Tenn-An early morning fire in Obion County claimed the lives of of two family members and left one other critically injured.
Friday morning, firefighters responded to a fire at a home on East Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Union City. When first responders arrived, they said Mary Jackson, 76, was in front of the house severely burned. She was airlifted to a Memphis hospital.
Her daughter and son, Lola Jackson Holland, 54, and Henry Jackson, Jr., 61, were both found dead in the living room, only steps away from the front door. Neighbors painted a picture of a loving and compassionate family.
"That woman I knew that just left this world, she was one of the sweetest girls I've ever known," said Air Samuels, a neighbor.
Investigators said the cause of the fire is unknown. They are looking into whether there were working smoke detectors in the house.
Mary Jackson, the only survivor, is in serious but stable condition.
