JACKSON, Tenn.- The city of Jackson's population grew by hundreds Friday morning as new students arrived on campus at Union University.

It was an exciting morning as over 600 incoming freshmen and transfer students moved into their new homes for the coming school year.

Union staff told 7 Eyewitness News us they try to create an exciting environment and sense of community for their new students by helping them unload their vehicles and settle into the dorms.

New students we spoke with say they are excited to start their college careers.

"I'm excited to meet professors and people who will be inspiring and hopefully help me figure out what's next in life," said Quinlan Draper. "I can't wait to meet everybody and be a part of what God has planned for the next four years."

"I'm excited to study and to work hard to prepare for my career and to have fun," said incoming freshman Willie Louth.
