Univ. of Memphis Opens New Campus in Bolivar

The University of Memphis is expanding its base in West Tennessee. The university will soon offer classes in Bolivar at a campus on Hope Street behind Bolivar Energy Authority.
Hardeman County Schools worked with Memphis for several months to bring the college level classes to Hardeman County in an effort to make it easier for residents to take courses conveniently.
The city, the county and Hardeman County, along with the school system are pooling resources to renovate a building for students.
"This is a tremendous asset in several ways. One, of course to the community, but its also an asset to our local educators who need to extend their degrees," said Donald Hopper, director of schools, Hardeman County.
The ribbon cutting for the facility was Thursday and an open house is set for May 15.
