State Officials Confirm Salmonella in West TN

FAYETTE COUNTY, Tenn. - Six individuals in Tennessee have been affected by the recent salmonella outbreak within the past week, and one is in West Tennessee.
Officials with the state's health department told 7 Eyewitness News that someone in Fayette County has been infected.
Officials would not say where in Fayette County the case was found, or the age or gender of the person infected. They said they could not release that information due to HIPPA laws.
The state department said it is still investigating the source of the infections, but they could have been from cantaloupe.
Health officials advise you to check with your grocery store if you plan to buy cantaloupe, to see if it is from southwestern Indiana - the source of the outbreak.
They said you should wash all vegetables and fruit thoroughly with cold water.
Other counties with infections are Meigs, Monroe, Overton, and Wilson.
