JACKSON Tenn. - Dozens of West Tennesseans gathered at Asia Garden Sunday to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

West Tennessee families who have adopted families from China gathered to honor a piece of their child's heritage.

Families told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness news it is important for the children to learn about where they came from.

"We don't ever want him to ever be ashamed of where he came from or of his heritage or anything. Its a very special event," said father Brian Childress.

West Tennessee Adopted Families said this is the 13th year they have gathered to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
