Wife, Mother of Kidnap-Slaying Suspect Arrested

Police have arrested the wife and mother of a man suspected of abducting and killing a Tennessee woman and her oldest daughter and kidnapping the woman's two youngest daughters.

Adam Mayes' wife, Teresa Mayes, and mother, Mary Mayes, are in jail in Hardeman County, Tenn.

Teresa Mayes is charged with four counts of especially aggravated kidnapping.

Mary Mayes is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping.

According to the affidavits, during an interview with TBI agents, Teresa Mayes admitted that she was involved with the "removal and/or confinement" of the Jo Ann, Adreienne, Alexandra and Kyliyah Bain.

She reportedly told investigators that she drove the vehicle containing the Bains to Union County, Mississippi.

Both Teresa and Mary Mayes allegedly told investigators that they saw Adam Mayes digging in his mother's backyard.

Teresa Mayes' bond was set at $500,000 and Mary Mayes' bond is $300,000.

Teresa Mayes' sister Bobbi Booth said Adam Mayes and his wife lived with his parents.

The bodies of Jo Ann Bain and 14-year-old Adrienne Bain were found behind a house in North Mississippi late last week.

Booth told the AP her sister told her last week she knew about the killings, but she thinks Teresa Mayes may have been too scared to call the police.
