More rain, could flood, temps balmy this weekend
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Another round of wet weather moving into Tennessee could set off some weekend flooding.
National Weather Service forecaster Bobby Boyd in Nashville said the rain will initially be accompanied by near-record warmth.
Boyd said a predicted high near 70 degrees could tie the date record of 72 on Friday.
The same scenario plays out statewide as a strong frontal system set ups Saturday along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers and the result could be a couple of inches of rainfall on soil that is already saturated.
The greatest rainfall potential is Saturday night into Sunday in West
Tennessee, during the day Sunday in Middle Tennessee and overnight into Monday morning for East Tennessee.
By midweek, those balmy temperatures will be sliding toward more normal readings, but precipitation will be ending.
