28 arrested after Covington undercover probe
COVINGTON, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say an eight-month undercover drug investigation at a Covington apartment complex has resulted in 28 arrests.
The Tipton County Sheriff's Office said law enforcement personnel made the arrests Tuesday on charges including drug sales, drug possession, theft and violation of the sex offender registry.
The investigation began after repeated complaints of gang activity, drug trafficking and trespassing within the Broadmeadows Apartments complex.
In a news release, Sheriff J.T. "Pancho" Chumley says many of those arrested were living in subsidized housing and selling drugs, and he called that "insulting to those who really need assistance."
