MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Three brush fires that broke out in close proximity to each other have been contained near Maynardville.

WATE-TV reported officials are suspicious that the fires might have been intentional.

Northeast Union Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Gordon Sartain said a barn burned in one of the blazes early Thursday. One of the fires burned about 20 acres of woodland. A smaller blaze was contained to about one and one-half acres after burning brush and grass.

Sartain said the fires broke out within three miles of each other in eastern Union County. The fires were contained, but had not burned out completely Thursday morning.
