3rd-grader dies, found unresponsive on school bus
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) - A third-grader at an elementary school in Oak Ridge has died after being found unresponsive on a school bus.
The Oak Ridger (http://bit.ly/1jLgNxP ) said the name of the boy who died Tuesday afternoon wasn't released.
School Superintendent Bruce Borchers said in a news release and that Linden Elementary School "suffered a terrible loss."
Borchers said the school provided counselors to help students, parents and friends on Wednesday.
Oak Ridge Fire Chief Darryl Kerley told The Associated Press that responders didn't have the boy's medical history and that he doesn't know if he had a pre-existing condition. Kerley said people on the bus tried to wake the boy at his stop but couldn't, and the driver called 911.
Margaret Hyder of the state medical examiner's office said the office didn't have information on the case Wednesday.
