Arrest After Tipton County Party Bust

ATOKA, Tenn. - A strong smell of marijuana coming from a home at 1100 Wortham Road in Atoka prompted neighbors to call deputies. Officers said when they arrived around 7:30 a.m., Sunday, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was coming from an open window.

Inside officers found two adults and five juveniles, all of whom appeared to be intoxicated.

Aaron Schultz, 18, of Atoka, was found sleeping in one of the bedrooms. Deputies said they found him with a 9mm pistol in one hand and a loaded magazine in the other.

Schultz was taken into custody on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, underage possession or consumption of alcohol and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

The other adult in the home, Clayton Poston, 18, of Atoka, was found by deputies in another bedroom. The arresting officers said Poston became belligerent and irate as they approached and he became combative, striking the deputies. He was tased and taken into custody without injury to anyone involved.

Poston is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, underage possession or consumption of alcohol, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Schultz and Poston are free on $1,000 bond. They are scheduled to make their next court appearance in Tipton County General Sessions Court on April 9.

The five juveniles were detained then released to their parents at the scene. Each was cited into Tipton County Juvenile Court.
