Father of Missing Memphis Boy Charged
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The father of the 3-year-old Memphis boy who has been missing since Sunday night has been charged in his son's disappearance.
Maurice Brown Sr., 28, was booked into the Shelby County Jail at 6:20 p.m., Monday. He has been charged with aggravated child abuse.
Maurice Brown Jr. went missing around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. His father told Memphis police that gang members took his son as he slept to retaliate against him.
Despite the presence of homicide detectives, Memphis police said they are still treating their investigation as a missing person's case.
Maurice Senior, whose car was seized Monday, told media outlets that he is a member of the Grape Street Crips.
