Bridge Fire in KY Causes Road Closure
Transportation officials say a fire has damaged a wooden railroad bridge and closed a road in southwestern Kentucky.
According to Keith Todd, a spokesman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, fire departments responded on Monday morning to the bridge in Hickman County at the edge of Clinton and early reports indicate the fire may have been deliberately set.
State Highway 1037 crosses the bridge that carries vehicle traffic over a main rail line. The aging bridge was scheduled to be replaced with a concrete structure and traffic was restricted to one vehicle at a time.
A bridge inspector has been dispatched to determine fire damage.
