Drug investigation at ETSU empties dorm
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - Police in Johnson City are investigating an incident that caused the evacuation of students from an East Tennessee State University apartment building.
A fire alarm sent campus police to the building Friday night and a public safety officer smelled marijuana. Officer Stacy Wiggand noted, in documents obtained by the Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/18e1fwJ ) that a student who lived there consented to the apartment being searched and police found drug paraphernalia, a ledger with sales and weights of marijuana sold and $575 in cash. A small amount of marijuana was also found.
In subsequent searches, three other people were also charged.
Students were evacuated for a time early Sunday as the ongoing investigation found fertilizer, crystal pellets, propane tanks and assorted powders.
