Estranged husband charged in teacher's death

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The estranged husband of a Memphis kindergarten teacher has been charged with second-degree murder in her death.

The body of Heather Palumbo-Jones was found Tuesday night in east Shelby County. She had last been seen on April 15.

She was reported missing after she did not report to work. Her house was locked and her car was in the driveway, but her purse, keys and cell phone were missing.

The Commercial Appeal ( ) reports police said that Chris Jones confessed to an altercation with his wife that led to her death.

The two separated in early January, and Palumbo-Jones filed for an order of protection. She later filed for divorce.

Chris Jones is being held on $1 million bond. Police did not know if he had obtained an attorney.
