Event to help guard against identity theft

By news admin

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Residents of the Clarksville area can have documents shredded for free on Saturday.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security is spearheading the project. Also taking part are the Clarksville Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Austin Peay State University and Cintas Document Shredding.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Captain Stacy Williams says identity theft is a growing concern and the shredding event will give people a secure way to dispose of personal documents.

Up to two boxes or garbage bags per person may be brought to the APSU stadium parking lot for shredding between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
