Authorities say a homeowner on the Cumberland Plateau repelled home invaders, fatally shooting one of them.
The homeowner fought off two intruders on Tuesday, firing a handgun he pulled from his pocket.
Cumberland County Sheriff's deputies found the body of 20-year-old Jacob Andrew Clark of Putnam County not far from the house where the incident occurred. Deputies arrested 18-year-old Joey Allen Pugh of Cumberland County as he fled on foot, charging him with aggravated burglary.
Authorities said Clark was shot once in the chest. His body was taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Chief Investigator Casey Cox said the homeowner was not charged, but an investigation continues.
