MILLINGTON, Tenn. (AP) - Police in Millington have charged a homeless man who had been allowed to sleep in a church lobby with setting fire to the church.

According to The Commercial Appeal, 28-year-old Johnny Riveria was taken into custody Wednesday after an anonymous tip about the fire at St. William Catholic Church. After questioning, Riveria was charged with arson.

The fire was reported early Wednesday morning and the Rev. Kevin Bravata said someone broke into his study at the church, where a fire was set.

Police Inspector Charlie Coleman said an investigation revealed Riveria entered the church through the sanctuary and made his way to the offices.

No bond had been set by Thursday afternoon and there was no indication Riveria had an attorney.
