Jailer Sues for Back-Pay
A central Kentucky jailer is suing the county he works for, claiming he is owed thousands of dollars in back pay and for a boost in pay to what is legally required.
Garrard County Jailer Kevin Middleton filed suit against the Fiscal Court in circuit court in Lancaster last week. Middleton says his salary of $20,000 a year is unconstitutional because it does not meet the $31,000 annually paid to his predecessor, Kenny Tuggle, when he retired in 2009.
Judge-Executive John Wilson says the matter is "an honest dispute."
Middleton does not ask for a specific amount of damages in the lawsuit.
