By news admin

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell has rescued a bill that would allow supermarkets in Tennessee to start selling wine.

Wednesday, she cast a deciding vote on the house's local government subcommittee meeting, where the proposal faced defeat.

She voted against an attempt to put the bill off until July of next year. She's allowed to cast a vote in any committee, but rarely does.

The bill would allow cities and counties to hols referendums on whether they can sell wine in Supermarkets and convenience stores.
