MS Gun Smuggler
A man has pleaded guilty in federal court in Mississippi to attempting to smuggle guns from North Carolina to Mexico.
Court records say Javier Molino was pulled over in Mississippi in a black 1994 Ford Ranger carrying nine rifles, five shotguns and eight pistols on Nov. 1, 2011.
He pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court in Gulfport.
Court records say authorities had placed a GPS tracking device on the truck after Molino's uncle was pulled over while driving it two months earlier.
That man, Jose Luis Santos-Garcia, is charged with attempting to smuggle guns, bullet-proof vests and stolen four-wheelers to Mexico after being stopped on Aug. 28, 2011.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Both men were stopped on Interstate 10 in Jackson County.
