Maury Commission committee to redo meeting
COLUMBIA, Tenn. (AP) - A committee of the Maury Commission will repeat a meeting after a citizen complaint of secrecy.
County Mayor Jim Bailey told The Daily Herald of Columbia he takes the blame for the ad hoc rules committee failure to give adequate public notice that it was meeting Monday night.
Bailey said each item will be discussed again in public after the meeting is advertised, as required by the state Sunshine Law.
Spring Hill resident Mike Bennett told committee chair June Beckum prior to the meeting Monday that notice had not appeared in the newspaper or on the county website.
On Tuesday, Beckum announced the repeated rules committee meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 17. Bailey said his office will provide public notice of the do-over meeting.
